This work has a very particular visual force, engaging with the material as much as with the gesture.
The use of a grooved surface introduces a tactile dimension that goes beyond the pictorial. The horizontal ridges fragment the application of color, generating a kind of visual interference reminiscent of a digital glitch or the distortion of a signal. This could suggest a reflection on the fragility of the image in the contemporary era, or simply play with the idea of layers and concealment.
Black and green intertwine at the top and center, evoking organic, almost vegetal forms that appear to grow or decompose on the support.
Red, concentrated at the bottom, acts as a more intense, almost visceral emotional base. Its horizontal strokes reinforce the structure of the support, but also seem to break it with their energy.
The work lies between the abstract and the gestural. It does not seek to represent, but to suggest. There is a tension between control and spontaneity, between the structure of the support and the freedom of the stroke. In contemporary art, emphasis is placed on the process and the medium, where both are as important as the result.
It could be interpreted as a metaphor for the emotional or mental landscape: layers of thought, memory, or experience that accumulate, become distorted, and become hidden. Or as a critique of the way we perceive and process images in the digital age.
